I think it’s important that a person is capable of recognizing their strengths and weaknesses. You need a book read and/or reviewed? I’m your girl. You need something painted or otherwise crafted in an artsy way? Yeah, not so much. I admire the heck out of people who are able to create lovely things, but I am not amongst their ranks. Which is why I was intrigued when I came across Dark Canvas: A Brush With Death. Art and a mystery? Dark Canvas: A Brush With Death is the story of a woman (you) who must travel to a small town in Europe to rescue her daughter who has mysteriously disappeared. The mystery takes a turn for the bizarre when you discover the town has been plagued by a rash of strange deaths that have all been predicted in the paintings of a local artist. Now, you must not only fight for your daughter, but also get to the bottom of who’s really wreaking havoc in this usually peaceful town. I’m going to go ahead and admit Dark Canvas: A Brush With Death wasn’t my favorite game. I felt like there was a LOT of unnecessary wandering around, and that the plot advanced at a painfully slow pace. I also found a bunch of little continuity issues, and there’s nothing I hate more than when the big picture is screwed up in the details (It’s hard to enjoy the forest when you know all the trees are from the wrong region and climate.) Anyway, I also found the puzzles to be a little hit-or-miss (meaning I either rocked them or couldn’t figure them out) and the back-and-forth between awesome and awful started to annoy me pretty quickly. I will say, there was a nice assortment of hidden object areas, and those areas were few and far between. The only thing I like better than a mix up of hidden object areas is the complete absence of them. A Brush With Death is a quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Rumors around Cheydinhal tell. Few actors feel as present as, a performer that doesn’t play-act, he embodies the characters he portrays. In “Escobar: Paradise Lost,” could be playing with children in a pool or ordering a young man to commit murder, and he performs both scenes with the same genuine intensity. He has such a keen awareness of his surroundings, whether it be his co-stars, shooting location, or even the few pounds he put on to play someone as larger than life as Pablo Escobar. He’s really very good here, as he almost always is, no matter the quality of the film around him. The rest of the movie? The second half of “Paradise Lost” is actually a pretty robust thriller, especially a centerpiece action-suspense scene in which Nick struggles to keep his head above water as the world is crashing around him. There’s a harrowing phone call or two and some really strong sense of setting, buoyed by confident direction, especially for a first-time director. Here’s the moment where I realized that it’s not Josh Hutcherson’s fault that his character doesn’t really work, and not really even Di Stefano’s, but the fact that this is two movies grafted into one. On one hand, we have a true story of crime and poverty bringing down paradise on Earth. On the other, we have the story of an innocent caught in a web of violence. Both films kind of work, and both films are lessened by the way they are smashed together here. Were this just a straightforward, fictional thriller, it might be pretty effective. But it’s not. The name is right there in the title. And every time that Benicio Del Toro shows up as Pablo Escobar, we’re reminded of the movie that this could have been, making it easier to criticize the movie it chose to be instead. Set mostly in 1991, in the run-up to Escobar’s negotiated surrender to the authorities, this fact-studded fiction (written and directed by Andrea Di Stefano) cleverly avoids the burdens of the biopic. But the near-ruinous focus on the gormless Nick means far less than we’d like of Mr. Watch Escobar: Paradise Lost Online Full Free. Escobar: paradise lost full movie with English subtitle. Stars: Benicio Del Toro, Josh Hutcherson, Claudia Traisac. Del Toro, whose majestic performance — a wily conspiracy of hooded eyes, crooning voice and thrusting gut — moors us to a story plagued by unconvincing leaps and unexplained decisions. Thanks to smoothly directed action sequences (and a delightful, 11th-hour performance from young Micke Moreno as a gutsy guide), the final act has energy and style. Nick might usurp most of the screen time, but it’s Mr. Del Toro, face flickering from benevolent to vicious and body heaving with literal and symbolic weight, who seizes the film. “Escobar: Paradise Lost” is rated R (Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian). Kiss kiss, bang bang, boom boom. In 2006, Don Pierson began developing Flypaper as a “collaborative development tool” [1]. Pierson is now the president and COO of Flypaper Studio, Inc. Learning and innovation go hand in hand. The arrogance of success is to think that what you did yesterday will be sufficient for tomorrow. —William Pollard Which forces and trends will drive the next twenty years of K–12 education innovation? We’re asking this question at as we celebrate our twentieth anniversary this year. In this spirit, here are three big, important questions for 2018, the answers to which have implications not only for the coming year, but for the next decade and beyond. Is education technology poised for a new wave of innovation? Several years ago, I often frustrated ed tech entrepreneurs and investors by pointing out that the last thing teachers wanted was another online gradebook. I’d say, “We already have a bunch of those.” Nonetheless, it was the most frequent pitch I heard from 2009–2011. Fortunately, this imitative drought gave way to a flood of innovation. Investment in K–12 ed tech increased fourfold from 2010 to 2015. The sheer volume of instructional content and tools produced during this period resulted in many high-quality digital offerings in segments such as math, classroom management, and school communications. But over the last. The movement to expand career readiness is growing across the country. After reviewing all fifty-one state Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) plans for our new joint brief, “,” we found that almost all include at least one strategy to advance this work. Much more so than in the past, states are simultaneously creating more of these opportunities and holding schools accountable for their number of career-ready students. This is a significant shift in state policymaking that, if implemented in equitable and high quality ways, has the potential to benefit millions of learners. Unfortunately, it is too soon to declare victory because most states failed to fully leverage to advance career readiness. For example, few states aligned their long-term goals to their vision for success, leaving many states’ overall strategy for supporting learners’ college-and-career readiness little more than rhetoric. And very few states leveraged ESSA to promote the integration of academic and technical instruction into their professional development or standards. Seven findings—some good, some bad—are particularly noteworthy: • Forty-nine states’ ESSA plans included at least one strategy to expand career readiness. • Thirty-five plans included a career-focused metric in their high school accountability. In an important and mostly depressing in The Washington Post, veteran education journalist Jay Mathews describes the on-again, off-again “carnival ride” to “raise school standards” that he’s observed over the past half century. “We love making schools more accountable,” Mathews writes. “Then, we hate the idea.” He cites a pair of recent setbacks. First, the striking decline in states that require high school students to pass a statewide exit test before receiving their high school diplomas. Five years ago, that was the practice in half the states. Today, as documented by the anti-testing group called, it’s a graduation requirement in just thirteen jurisdictions. Advertisements for investment funds always say that past performance is no guarantee of future results; in the case of my forecasting skills, that’s probably a good thing. After all, in 2016 I claimed that Donald Trump would never become president, and a year ago I thought that 2017 might be the year of. So in the spirit of third time’s a charm, not three strikes and you’re out, here’s what I see coming down the pike in 2018. The release of the National Assessment of Educational Progress results is always big news, but I have a hunch that this one will be bigger than usual. That’s because it’s been a and analysts will consider this round a legitimate indicator of the success or failure of Obama-era reforms. I’ll admit to being worried that gains will be minimal. The and the changing demographic mix of the student population are significant. Still, if states’ higher standards and tougher tests are leading to real changes in the classroom—especially as schools adopt high quality curriculum like Eureka Math—we ought. A November report from Georgetown’s Center on Education and the Workforce examines the changes in the job market from 1991 to 2015, specifically the number of good jobs without a bachelor’s degree nationally and by state. Defining “good jobs” is subjective, of course, but here they are defined as those that pay at least $35,000 annually for workers under the age of forty-five (or $17 per hour for a full-time job) and $45,000 for older employees (or $22 per hour full time). In 2015, these jobs had median earnings of $55,000 annually. The report uses annual survey data administered by the U.S. Census Bureau called the Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement for years 1992 to 2016. Data for workers between the ages of twenty-five and sixty-four are used to estimate employment by state, as well as the level of educational attainment, industry, and occupation. In looking at the national breakdown of good jobs, 55 percent of those workers hold at least a bachelor’s degree. And of the 61 percent of employed adults who don’t have a bachelor’s degree, 40 percent have a good job. But this differs between states. In Wyoming, for example, 62 percent without the. Regular readers know that I’m. Maybe it was my Catholic upbringing, or the, but I can’t help feeling a little guilty about letting my boys watch stupid Disney TV shows or play mindless video games when I could be engaging them in healthier pursuits. I stand in awe at my friends who have gone years— years—without allowing their children to watch a drop of television. It’s nothing but board games and arts-and-crafts at their homes. I don’t have that kind of discipline. And, as I’ve, I’m not even sure a mass-media ban is what’s best for children. Everything in moderation, right? So let me admit that the Petrilli family will be enjoying some screen time this winter vacation. Here are some great things you can watch with your kids that allow everyone to relax and will keep everybody learning to boot. My ten-year-old is obsessed with this YouTube channel, but. ‘Tis a time of celebration, reflection, gift-giving, and—swiftly thereafter—planning and resolving for the year to come. Let’s include in those reflections and resolutions some extra attention to the oft-neglected demographic subset we might simply call smart poor kids. They so often fall through a crack between two common assumptions in American education: (1) that “gifted and talented” education is something that’s mostly about able but also privileged middle class youngsters with pushy parents (i.e., that it’s an elitist thing); and (2) the belief that smart high achievers will generally do fine on their own and hence the formal education system should focus laser-like on the laggards and those on the lower edge of the achievement gap. What gets left out are millions of able kids who, for reasons entirely beyond their control, aren’t middle class, lack sophisticated and aggressive adults to steer them through the education system, and who therefore depend heavily on that system to notice what they’re capable of and cultivate their abilities to the max. All of which was made worse by No Child Left Behind with its single-minded fixation on getting kids over the proficiency bar. Why bother thinking differently about it now? • There’s an equity. Earlier this month, Bellwether Education Partners and the Collaborative for Student Success released a assessing states’ ESSA plans. As The 74 reported, their reviews found them “,” a judgment that, at first blush, seems to conflict with Fordham’s own generally positive of all fifty-one ESSA accountability plans. But don’t rely on first blushes. The key word in the preceding paragraph is “accountability,” which distinguishes our report from theirs and mostly explains why ours was more positive. Although both reports looked at accountability, Fordham’s looked only at accountability—and only at select aspects of it—and we had good reasons for restricting our analysis in this way. Both projects assessed “Consolidated State Plans” that states sent to the U.S. Department of Education as part of their obligations under the Every Student Succeeds Act. These submissions were typically more than one hundred pages long, and each set forth its state’s intentions in myriad areas, including assessments, accountability, long-term goals, school turnarounds, instructional support, teacher equity, programs for at-risk students, rural education, and much more. One problem with reviewing everything in these plans—and a reason, we suspect, why neither report did—is that they’re basically big, complex compliance exercises. The past year has been frantic and fraught, and that was no less true for education. Politically charged debates raged over perennial contentious issues like school discipline and school choice, as well as newer topics like the Every Student Succeeds Act and Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos. These topics and more show up in the two lists that follow, which comprise fifteen of our most-read articles. The first ten articles come from Fordham staff members, and the last five were written by guests. The top ten Fordham-authored posts of 2017 1., by Robert Pondiscio Responding to New York Times columnist, Robert Pondiscio challenged the assertion that the parenting styles of privileged Americans, the so-called “pediacracy,” is ruining America for the rest of us. This provocative piece also prompted a conversation around privilege in education, with responses on, ’s blog, and Fordham’s own. 2., by Aaron Churchill Readers’ top five issues were school accountability, e-schools, the new federal administration, ESSA, and charters and choice—predictions that turned out to be rather prescient. Frontier(s) is a fast-paced, very violent thrill-ride from Xavier Gens. While it won't be everyone's taste, for fans of full-on gruesome action it's a must. It's basically a very decent version of 'Hostel' with a couple of thugs on the run from riot-torn Paris who seek refuge at a seedy hotel, unbeknownst what lies ahead. It's not a great film by any means but it is a thrilling one. The lead actress did a great job, but there's also good stuff the actor who played Farid and the actor who played the meathead lunatic. The sequel to 'Tai Chi Zero' delivers more of the frenetic kung fu action sequences that fans crave. Audiences who didn’t get enough of the hyper-stylized, video-game inspired martial arts mayhem on display in last year’s Tai Chi Zero will no doubt return for more with Stephen Fung’s sequel, the second entry in a proposed trilogy. But while Tai Chi Hero offers plenty of the kung-fu action that fans crave, it’s less successful on the narrative front. It’s best to leave your mind at the door and simply take in the eye-popping visuals. The film continues the adventures of Lu Chan ( Jayden Yuan), the eager student who inexplicably turns into a fighting machine whenever a particular spot is touched on his head. Living in the village where every resident is a martial arts master, he’s now married to Yuniang ( Angelababy), the beautiful daughter of its leader ( Tony Leung Ka Fai). When Yuniang’s prodigal brother ( Feng Shaofeng) returns home warning about an ancient prophecy that the town will be destroyed by the presence of an interloper, it turns the town against Lu Chan. It also foreshadows a ruthless attack by the previous film’s villain ( Eddie Peng) who’s in cahoots with a crooked British railroad tycoon (amusingly played by Swedish actor Peter Stormare). It’s all just an excuse for an endless series of frenetic action set pieces rendered in heavily stylized fashion that includes extensive use of pop-up graphics, slow-motion, gravity defying leaps and other visual flourishes resembling video games. Once again expertly choreographed by Hong Kong action veteran Sammo Hung, they’re undeniably entertaining if at times wearying in their sheer sensory overload. As with the first installment, this one also features a distinct steampunk flavor, particularly with the old-fashioned flying machine that’s called into action against the evildoers’ legions of cannons. Rambo: First Blood Part II is the second film in the franchise, released in 1985. A year has passed since the events of, and John Rambo () is doing time for the mayhem he unleashed back then. The ex-Green Beret is working in a prison quarry when his old commander, Col. Sam Trautman (Richard Crenna), shows up with a mission. Long after the end of, rumors have surfaced that. As one of only three men qualified for the job, Rambo is to sneak into a prison camp to record evidence of POWs. If he succeeds, he may receive a Presidential pardon. Rambo reluctantly accepts and is flown to Thailand to meet mission commander Marshall Murdock (Charles Napier), who warns Rambo not to engage the Viet Cong. Outfitted with the latest in technology, Rambo is flown to Vietnam to perform a parachute jump into enemy territory. Unfortunately, an accident during the jump forces Rambo to discard all of his high-tech equipment to save himself. When he finally touches down, he is left with nothing but his survival knife, his collapsible bow and a collection of. Rambo soon finds his Vietnamese contact, Co-Bao (Julia Nickson), who is able to ferry him through a river to the prison camp. Without the camera he was given to record evidence, Rambo decides to do the next best thing: infiltrate the camp to find and rescue a POW himself. Little does he know that Murdock sent him in expecting him to find nothing, thus allowing the POW issue to be buried and freeing the United States from having to pay reparations to Vietnam. When the truth hits him, Rambo will be set on avenging his betrayal—and now that he's back on the battlefield, only God knows what he'll do to save his countrymen. Rambo: First Blood Part II is not only the most famous of the Rambo movies, but also the purest definition of an. The previous film's anti-war message is discarded in favor of the action-packed story of a hardened soldier returning to save those left behind, with gunfights and explosions aplenty when he's not putting his survival skills to well-worn use., it nevertheless became the second highest-grossing film of 1985 and by far the most successful film in the series. It has inspired countless imitators, including films and video games (such as and ). The film itself was adapted into a number of arcade and console games, including. It would be followed up three years later by, which would cement Rambo's status as a. This film provides examples of: •: The whole sub-plot between Rambo and Co is this. Of interest is the scene where Rambo refers to himself as 'expendable' and explains the term to Co, and she answers that he is not. •: One of the most extreme examples. First Blood was a grim thriller about a war veteran victimized by the nation he once served. Rambo: First Blood Part II discards that and sends Rambo back to Vietnam to kill commies by the dozen. •: Guess who. •: From Rambo: 'Murdock. I'm coming to get you.' • As well as: 'Find them. Or I'll find you.' •: Rambo runs to the extraction point with the POW he rescued, only for the helicopter to leave without him on Murdock's orders. The look on Rambo's face as the chopper flies away speaks volumes of the level of betrayal he felt. •: The captive Rambo is dipped into a leech-infested lake by the Soviets. Soon, he is then subjected to (see below). •: We don't see it in this film, but it's plain to see that Trautman isn't a Special Forces colonel for nothing. He's who would've rescued the stranded Rambo if not for Murdock's intervention. Tay, the Vietnamese officer who killed Co, as Rambo shoots him with an explosive-tipped arrow. •: Co poses as a prostitute to get inside the prison camp where Rambo is held in the second movie. •: Rambo dives into a lake in the Vietnam jungle, to avoid a massive explosion brought on by a bomb-like object dropped by a helicopter. •: Effectively shows just how badass Rambo is by having him take hours of an entire camp's electricity and still be alive afterward. •: In the riverboat scene, Rambo leaps off just as the two boats have a head-on collision and explode. This makes even less sense than for a car—both because of the relatively slow speed, and because boats have their engines and fuel tanks in the rear. •: Murdock for Trautman. •: Trautman to Rambo. He arranges his release from prison for the initial mission, then has to be locked away to prevent him from saving him. •: Averted with a commandeered helicopter that is landed at its destination successfully, but played straight with the helicopter piloted by Podovsky. •: Rambo steals a helicopter when the pilot is looking for Rambo in a pond and hovers too close to the surface. •: Rambo only planned to rescue one POW to use as evidence that American POWs remain in Vietnam, before he was and captured by the Soviets. Following his escape and Co's death, Rambo decides to rescue —a daunting task for a special forces team, let alone a single Green Beret—so they all have a chance to return home. Being a, of course, Rambo succeeds. •: Rambo KOs a Soviet with the radio transmitter with which he was supposed to disavow the POWs—right after, for bonus points, using it to for instead. •: Murdock apparently didn't feel like he was rubbing enough salt into Rambo and Trautman's wounds, because when Trautman continues to insist on finding those lost POWs after Rambo escapes the prison camp, he quickly finds himself under arrest on Murdock's orders and confined to the base. •: Rambo prepping up to kick Viet Cong ass is the definitive version of this trope in action. •: Some markets (such as Latin America) retitled it to Rambo II: The Mission. •: Rambo shoots down the Soviet MI-24 HIND helicopter with a rocket launcher by shooting it through the windshield of his own damaged helicopter in a. In reality, doing this would have not only finished the job of wrecking his aircraft, it would have also killed all of the POWs in the passenger bay. •: It rates a 6 (though a relatively hard one), due to the numerous blood squibs (which, despite some blood vapor, don't spurt out any liquid in a noticeable manner). •: When dispatching Vietnamese and Soviet soldiers in the jungle (sometimes gruesomely), Rambo is as much a as he's an unstoppable predator dealing with hapless preys. •: The point of the film, focusing on the plight of American POWs in Vietnam. •: Podovsky is a major offender; he sounds more like a stereotypical Nazi interrogator, complete viz ze inability to pronounce a 'th' sound. •: Rambo: First Blood Part II, rather than Rambo II or First Blood Part II. •: After of Rambo trying to fend off the local police without killing anyone, we see how deadly Rambo truly is when he's put back on the battlefield and no longer has to hold back. The result: Rambo fights tons of Viet Cong and Soviet troops by himself and wins, singlehandedly inspiring many action heroes like him. •: Only Rambo is tough enough to save the POWs. He himself even mentions the wisdom behind going in alone when you're outnumbered. Trautman,, flies off without him, Rambo knows who's really responsible and is set on giving Murdock hell when he comes back. •: Lifer pulls a SIG Sauer P226 on Trautman when he tells him not to be a hero. What makes it rare is the fact it had just hit the market at the time of the film's release and appears to have not been converted to blank fire, suggesting it was a prototype or early production model on loan by SIGArms, since it was not available at the time of production, making it the first ever appearance of a P226 in a motion picture. •: Trautman is this in spades. Compare him to Murdock. •: The premise is based on the then hot-button issue of. •: Rambo uses a bow to defeat Lt. Tay, who is armed with an automatic rifle and a pistol. •: Murdock sends Rambo on the mission not expecting him to find evidence of POWs so the United States government can sweep the whole issue under the rug. Rambo does, however, so Murdock strands him in Vietnam to prevent the truth from getting out, going as far as to put Trautman under arrest to prevent a rescue. •: Lots of it, whether due to missiles, a bomb dropped from a helicopter, or Rambo's explosive arrows. It even has a character thanks to the latter. • /: Co's fate. •: Rambo was ready to leave the POWs behind and take Co with him to America. •: The prison camp is destroyed. • There's also a minor example when Rambo destroys all of Murdock's high-tech equipment with his M60 in retaliation for. •: Rambo's survival gear includes arrows which can be customized with detachable arrowheads to be either regular arrows or explosive arrows. The latter are put to in the last third of the film. •: Murdock tries burying evidence of American POW's in Vietnam for fear it might spark an international incident. •: When one of the POWs asks Rambo what year it is, he answers, '1985.' The look on the POW's face says it all. •: Done with helicopters! By 12/10/08 The term is only found in the epistles of John (1 John 2:18,22; 4:3; 2 John 1:7). The antichrist is the one who opposes and thus. The antichrist is an (end times) person who will appear and deceive countless people near the time of Christ's return. The antichrist is associated with Satan and will be aided by demonic forces in his unholy movement against God and in his attempt to rule the nations of the world. Most scholars agree that the antichrist will claim to be God and will rule many nations in Europe and bring the world to the brink of destruction. Paul does not use the term 'antichrist.' Instead, he uses the term 'man of lawlessness' in 2 Thess. 2:3 to describe an evil person who will stand in great opposition to God and His people. Paul speaks regarding the Day of the Lord. 'Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 4who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God,' (2 Thess. There are Old Testament references to the antichrist, though the terms 'antichrist' and 'man of lawlessness' are not used. Instead, 'the little horn' and 'worthless shepherd' are used as they prophesy his arrival. • Dan.7:8,21, 'While I was contemplating the horns, behold, another horn, a little one, came up among them, and three of the first horns were pulled out by the roots before it; and behold, this horn possessed eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth uttering great boasts. 21 I kept looking, and that horn was waging war with the saints and overpowering them.' 11:17, 'Woe to the worthless shepherd who leaves the flock! A sword will be on his arm and on his right eye! His arm will be totally withered, and his right eye will be blind.' Oct 27, 2010. Bible prophecy of the end time talks about a mysterious figure called the Antichrist (also called the 'man of sin' and the 'false prophet') before the second coming of Christ. But the story starts even earlier. With Antichrist he crafts a film that is horrifying and unforgettable. The cast here is impeccable and Trier's choices are terrific. Willem Dafoe and actress Charlotte Gainsberg deliver great performances here, and the story itself takes its time to unfold, with steady pacing, which is key in telling an effective story. From the Zechariah passage and the one found in Rev. 13:2,3, some theologians believe that the antichrist will suffer a head wound that will be fatal. 'And the beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave him his power and his throne and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been slain, and his fatal wound was healed. And the whole earth was amazed and followed after the beast,' (Rev. But, like the devil who imitates the truth in order to deceive, the antichrist will rise from the dead. His resurrection will be assisted by Satan. However, he will retain his wounds. His right arm will be withered and he will be blind in his right eye. The Spirit of Antichrist The term 'antichrist' is also used to describe a spiritual condition. In other words, it is descriptive of those people who oppose the true God. 'Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have arisen; from this we know that it is the last hour. 22 Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son,' (1 John 2:18,22). In 1 John 4:3 John says that all who do not confess Jesus are of the spirit of the antichrist, 'and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; and this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.' The cults such as, the, the, the, etc., are all of the Spirit of the antichrist since they deny the true Lord and Savior, Jesus. • • What's New and. This is a condensed but yet amazing, eye opening look into the Bible antichrist. There is so much wild speculation out there as to who the antichrist is, without any solid Biblical grounding or any historical evidence. But here you will see from the Bible and history who the real antichrist is. Is the antichrist a single person yet to come in the future, like so many people believe? Or does the Bible teach us that the antichrist is something else? What did the reformers believe? They were adamant that the Pope was the antichrist leader. Were they right? Here you will find the truth. Before we go on, please make note of the following vital truth about antichrist. The word 'anti' in antichrist does not mean someone who is going to be openly anti (against) Christ. That word 'anti' in the original Bible language can actually mean 'IN PLACE OF'. So could the bible antichrist be someone who has actually put himself 'in place of' Christ? Well, we have further Bible evidence to support this. In 1 John 2:18-19 it says that there were 'many antichrists', who 'WENT OUT FROM THE CHURCH'. In other words, John is pointing to the fact that those 'antichrists' were WITHIN THE CHURCH!! Not only that, but Paul in 2 Thess. 2:3-4 calls the man of sin the 'son of perdition'. Now there is only one other place in the Bible where the name 'son of perdition' is used, and that is in John 17:12 talking about JUDAS! And what was Judas? A professing follower of Christ Jesus. Someone who deceived from WITHIN the 'church'. 'The leader of the Catholic church is defined by the faith as the Vicar of Jesus Christ (and is accepted as such by believers). The Pope is considered the man on earth who TAKES THE PLACE of the Second Person of the omnipotent God of the Trinity.' (John Paul II, Crossing the Threshold of Hope, p. 'ANTI' - Christ = 'IN PLACE OF' Christ! From the evidence, it is our firm belief that we need to look WITHIN the professing church to find the end time Bible antichrist. And the rest of this study will confirm that even more. There are so many identifying marks that God has given us in His Word that we can all come to the truth without any doubt as to who is the antichrist today. We would only need a few of these identifying marks to know who the antichrist is, but God has given us many more so that there can be NO DOUBT as to who it is. So here we will not make any wild guesses about the Bible antichrist, instead we will use scripture and history to prove who it is. 2 Peter 1:20.' Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.' Pretty clear direction there from God. We are not to make any wild speculations about this important issue, instead we must let scripture interpret scripture and let history prove that scripture. Please also see The two main books of the Bible that unlock the mystery as to who the antichrist is, are the books of Daniel and Revelation. These two incredible prophecy books give us so much information as to who the antichrist is and once you understand the prophetic symbols of these two prophetic books then all becomes incredibly clear! So let us begin with Daniel to get a background and build up of the antichrist. In Daniel 2 King Nebuchadnezzar is given a vision of the timeline of earth's history from his own kingdom, Babylon, right to the end of time at the second coming of Jesus, represented by the rock that comes and smashes the image. Now God gave Daniel the meaning of this vision and Daniel was able to relay this interpretation to the king. Daniel 2:38-44.' Thou art this head of gold. And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth. And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise. And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay. And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.' So from what God revealed to Daniel about the image of Nebuchadnezzar and comparing that with history, we are able to come up with the nations shown in the chart. Now if we turn to Daniel 7 we are given 4 beasts which parallel these 4 kingdoms of Nebuchadnezzar's image. Daniel 7:3-7.' And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it. And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh. After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it. After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.' What God has done here in Daniel 7 is magnify upon the prophecy of Daniel 2 concerning the ruling kingdoms of the world since the time of Babylon. The Lion, the greatest of beasts representing Babylon as the greatest of nations. The Bear, with one shoulder raised above the other representing the dual nation of Medo-Persia, and Persia being the dominant kingdom of the two represented by the higher shoulder. The Leopard, denoting speed representing the speed of conquest by which Greece took control and the four heads representing the four generals who ruled Greece after Alexander's death. The Terrible Beast, with iron teeth that devoured and conquered representing the iron nation of Rome, and the ten horns representing the ten nations of Europe after Rome fell. Now how do we know that these beasts represent kingdoms? Daniel 7:23.' Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth.' We can always be sure that scripture will interpret itself. So these four beasts are four kingdoms and the descriptions of them perfectly match the four kingdoms of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome. This is the first description we have of the antichrist system. By the way, we are not looking for one man, we are looking for a kingdom, a power or institution that causes people to divert their worship from God to itself. How do we know that? Because the antichrist little horn represents a kingdom, not a man. In the prophecy of Daniel 7 horns represents kingdoms, as in the ten horns representing the ten kingdoms of Europe that Rome split into. So let's take a look at the identifying marks of the little horn power. Daniel 7:8,21,25.' I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things. I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them. And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.' Daniel here is thinking about the ten horns of the terrible fourth beast which represents the kingdoms of Europe that Rome split into. Then a 'little horn' comes up out of the terrible beast (Rome) among the other ten horns. So what identifying marks tell us who this antichrist little horn is? IT'S A LITTLE HORN - So this kingdom is a little kingdom. IT COMES UP OUT OF THE BEAST - This antichrist power rises out of the Roman Empire. IT RISES AMONG THE TEN HORNS - This kingdom rises amongst the nations of Europe. IT RISES TO POWER AFTER THE OTHER TEN HORNS - This kingdom rises to power after Rome splits into the ten nations of Europe. UPROOTS THREE OF THE OTHER TEN HORNS - This kingdom destroys three of the original ten nations of Europe. IT HAS EYES AND MOUTH OF A MAN - This antichrist kingdom will have a man as it's visible leader. IT PERSECUTES THE SAINTS OF GOD - This kingdom persecutes and kills God's people. IT'S DIVERSE FROM THE OTHER HORNS - This kingdom will be different from the other secular kingdoms. IT WILL SPEAK AGAINST GOD - This kingdom will proclaim things that are blasphemous and put itself in God's place. IT THINKS TO CHANGE GOD'S LAW - This antichrist kingdom will 'think' to change certain laws of God. IT WILL REIGN FOR A TIME, TIMES AND HALF TIME - This kingdom will rule for 1260 years (time, times and half time is 1260 prophetic days, see ). Now for any kingdom in history to match just half of these indentifying marks would be incredible, but there is one power from history, which is still with us today, that matches ALL 11 indentifying marks PERFECTLY! And which 'little kingdom' is the antichrist little horn? It is none other than the Papal Church of Rome. Commonly known as the Roman Catholic Church! How does it match? The Vatican State is the smallest kingdom in the world. The Papacy rose to power out of the Roman Empire. It rose up among the other nations of Europe. Rome fell in AD476 and split into the ten nations, then the Papacy rose to power in AD 538. The Papacy had three original kingdoms of Europe destroyed, Vandals, Ostrogoths, and Heruli. The pope is the visible leader of the Papacy. The Papacy persecuted and killed tens of millions of Christians during it's reign. The Papacy is different from the other nations because it is a Religious AND Political power. The Papacy speaks against God by proclaiming the pope to be equal with God, and by proclaiming that they are above the Word of God and can change God's Word. The Papacy thinks that it changed the Sabbath day to Sunday. The Papacy reigned for 1260 years from 538 to 1798AD, when the French marched into Rome and put the Papal rule to an end. 'if a man consider the original of this great ecclesiastical dominion, he will easily perceive that the papacy is no other than the ghost of the deceased Roman Empire, sitting crowned upon the grave thereof.' (Thomas Hobbes, Leviathan, Ch.47, (1651). So now we come to the antichrist sea beast of Revelation 13. Revelation 13 is one of the central chapters in as it describes the antichrist power causing the whole earth to receive the mark of the beast. So let's look at the identifying marks of this beast of Revelation 13 to find out who it is. Remember, a beast in prophecy as shown in Daniel 7 represents a kingdom. Revelation 13:1-8.' And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.' IT RISES OUT OF THE SEA - Sea in prophecy represents an area of different people, nations and tongues (Rev. So this kingdom rises out of an area with many nations, people and languages, Europe! NAME OF BLASPHEMY ON THE HEADS - This kingdom proclaims things that are blasphemous against God. IT RECEIVES A DEADLY WOUND - This antichrist kingdom receives a deadly blow at some point in history, which is then later healed. IT MAKES WAR WITH THE SAINTS OF GOD - This is a persecuting kingdom and kills God's people. IT REIGNS FOR 42 MONTHS - Again, using the, this kingdom rules and persecutes for 1260 years. Do you see some of the same characteristics as the antichrist little horn power? That is because they are one and the same! This beast of Revelation 13 is again none other than the Papacy (Roman Catholic Church). Let's look at the above identifying marks. The Papacy rose in Europe amongst the many different nations, peoples and tongues. It also has the largest support of any church or religion around the world. The Papacy as already stated proclaims that the pope is equal to God and that they are above the Word of God and have authority to change it, even His laws! In 1798, the French army marched into Rome and put an end to the Papal rule, giving it it's deadly wound. But then in 1929 Mussolini granted state power back to the Vatican and the deadly wound begins to heal. The Papacy, during it's 1260 year rule between 538 - 1798, persecuted and killed tens of millions of Christians. The Papacy ruled for 1260 years (42 prophetic months) between 538 - 1798AD. Also you will see in Revelation 13 that is the number of A MAN. Take a look at the following quotes. 'The letters inscribed in the pope's miter are these; Vicarius Filii Dei, which is the Latin for 'Vicar of the Son of God.' Catholics hold that the Church, which is a visible society, must have a visible head; Christ, before His ascension into heaven, appointed St. Peter to act as His representative. Hence, to the Bishop of Rome as head of the church, was given the title, 'Vicar of Christ.' ' At present the pope's miter does not contain the Latin title, but the words are incorporated into the coronation ceremonies of each newly crowned pope'. (Quote from Catholic newspaper, Our Sunday Visitor, of April 1915). 'Question: Vicarius Filii Dei? What does this mean? Is it a phrase referring to the pope or priest? I have heard that it is inscribed on the pope's hat, or something. Just curious to know what is it.' 'Answer: (From father Reginald Martin). Vicarius Filii Dei means Vicar [or representative] of the Son of God, a term scholars believe first appears in a document known as the Donation of Constantine, dated to the eight or ninth century. This is an apt description of the Pope, who is frequently referred to as the Vicar of Christ, and, at present, probably only the most bitterly anti-Catholic individuals would take offense at the title.' (Our Sunday Visitor, The Catholic Answer, 24th Nov. 2011 - Now if you convert the letters of the name 'Vicarius Filii Dei' into Roman numerals and add them up, you will come to 666. There can be no doubt that the antichrist little horn and the antichrist sea beast of Revelation 13 are the same power, and that power being the Papal Church of Rome. Finally we come to the who is revealed in Revelation 17 and 18. In Bible prophecy a woman represents a church (see Isaiah 54:5-6; Jeremiah 6:2; 2 Corinthians 11:2), and whereas the pure woman in Revelation 12 represents God's TRUE church, this whore of Babylon must represent a fallen apostate church. So God through His Word, reveals for us the antichrist as a political, persecuting, blasphemous kingdom, and now He will reveal that the antichrist power is also a CHURCH! And not only that, it is known as the MOTHER CHURCH!! So let's look at the identifying marks of this antichrist church. Please see for amazing evidence of this! Revelation 17.' I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters. With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. And I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication. And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.' THIS CHURCH SITS ON MANY WATERS - As the angel describes, the waters represent peoples, multitudes and nations. So this church is supported by many peoples, nations and tongues. KINGS HAVE COMMITTED FORNICATION WITH HER - So the kings of the earth have given this church support and committed evil things with this church. INHABITANTS OF EARTH MADE DRUNK BY HER WINE - In Bible prophecy, wine is a symbol of doctrines, so the earth have been made drunk with the false doctrines of this church. SHE SITS ON BEAST WITH SEVEN HEADS - The angel says that the heads are seven mountains, so this church is situated in a place with seven mountains. SHE IS ARRAYED IN PURPLE AND SCARLET - This church's main colours are purple and scarlet. DECKED WITH GOLD AND PRECIOUS STONES - It's a wealthy church and displays much gold and precious things in her churches. SHE IS THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS - This church is the 'mother' church and she has daughters, ie, other churches were 'BORN' from her. DRUNK WITH THE BLOOD OF SAINTS - This church is guilty of killing God's people. JOHN "WONDERED" AT THE VISION OF HER - This is a church that looks very 'glorious' on the outside and people wonder in awe of her. SHE IS THE "CITY" THAT REIGNS OVER THE KINGS OF EARTH - This church has power over the kings of the earth, and they seek guidance from her. God has made no mistake or left any stone unturned in making sure we can identify who is the antichrist. It is so clear when you put all the pieces together. Who is babylon the great? Again it is none other than the Roman Catholic Church. How do we know? Let's look at the identifying marks. The Roman Catholic Church 'sits' on many waters, in other words she has support from people all over the world, from many nations, peoples and tongues. She has the largest support over any other church or religion. During the reign of the Roman Catholic Church throughout history, kings have given their allegiance to the Catholic Church and committed great evils with her. Many Billions of people have been made 'drunk' and deceived with the false doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church. The Roman Catholic Church has it's headquarters at the Vatican in Rome, which has been known as the city of seven hills. The main colours that the bishops and cardinals use is Purple and Scarlet. The Roman Catholic Church is one of the wealthiest institutions in the world and her churches are decked with gold and precious stones. The Roman Catholic Church is known as the 'Mother' church and the protestant churches were 'born' from her. Many of the protestant churches held onto some of the doctrines of the Roman Church and are therefore regarded as her 'harlot' daughters. The Roman Catholic Church is guilty of killing tens of millions of God's people. There is only one church you could look at in all it's splendour and pomp and 'wonder' after her, the Roman Catholic Church. The Vatican is 'that city' which reigns over the kings of the earth. The Vatican now has relations with over 90% of the world's countries. Now how can the Roman Catholic Church be the Sea Beast of Revelation 13 AND the Whore of Babylon? Take a look at the following amazing admission by the Roman Catholic Church itself: 'The Catholic Church is the only religious institution that can enter into diplomatic relations and that interests itself in international rights, acting through the Holy See, an international sovereign subject of singular characteristics. The Holy See cannot simply be identified with the Church, as a community of believers.' (Monsignor Pietro Parolin, Undersecretary for Relations with States, Do you see what the Catholic Undersecretary is saying? He is confirming that the 'Holy See' is a separate entity from the actual 'church' itself. The Holy See is the political, CIVIL arm of the Roman Catholic Church, which is the sea beast of Revelation 13. Whereas the 'community of believers' is the 'church' part, which points to Babylon, the Mother of Harlots. Who is the antichrist? The antichrist is the little horn of Daniel 7, the sea beast of Revelation 13 and Babylon the Great. The antichrist isn't one man but is a church/state institution. The antichrist isn't future to us yet to be revealed, the antichrist has already been in the past and is with us now. Who is the antichrist? The Bible antichrist is the Papacy! Known as the Roman Catholic Church. Take another look at all the indentifying marks above and you will not find another system, kingdom, church, religion that fulfills them. It is time to and 'keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus Christ'. With: Hayden Christensen, Kate Bosworth, Dwight Yoakam, Michael W. Smith, Fred Dalton Thompson, Michael Harding, Marshall Bell. Sep 12, 2015. It is intended simply as an observation, not snarky criticism, to suggest that “90 Minutes in Heaven” might more accurately be titled “Five Months in Purgatory.”. More Reviews Piper (Hayden Christensen) is introduced as a Texas pastor and loving family man blessed with a beautiful wife (Kate Bosworth), three adorable low-maintenance children, and a burning desire to do the Lord’s will by establishing a new church. But while driving across a two-lane bridge near Huntsville on his way home from a statewide Baptist conference, Piper comes frightfully close to meeting Jesus a lot sooner than he expected: An 18-wheel tractor trailer truck driven by a prison inmate smashes into Piper’s Ford sedan, crushing the vehicle and horribly injuring its driver. Christensen underplays throughout “90 Minutes in Heaven,” even in scenes when Piper isn’t operating under the influence of painkillers, and his earnestness often comes off as monotonous. Still, he generates interest and sympathy, almost in spite of himself, and Bosworth lends capable support as a loyal spouse who works overtime to hide — from everyone but, occasionally, herself — her feelings of helplessness and hopelessness. Production credits are adequate, although anyone familiar with the real-life Houston-area medical facilities referenced here may be amused by the smaller substitute locations employed throughout this filmed-in-Georgia feature. OF THE RIGHTEOUS AND THE WICKED OF THE RIGHTEOUS AND THE WICKED WE BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A RADICAL AND ESSENTIAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE RIGHTEOUS AND THE WICKED; THAT SUCH ONLY AS THROUGH FAITH ARE JUSTIFIED IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS, AND SANCTIFIED BY THE SPIRIT OF OUR GOD, ARE TRULY RIGHTEOUS IN HIS ESTEEM WHILE ALL SUCH AS CONTINUE IN IMPENITENCE AND UNBELIEF ARE IN HIS SIGHT WICKED, AND UNDER THE CURSE; AND THIS DISTINCTION HOLDS AMONG MEN BOTH IN AND AFTER DEATH. I think it is good to ask our self this question – Why is this article included in our statement of faith? We already have articles on Total Depravity, Grace in Regeneration, God’s Purpose In Grace, Sanctification and the Perseverance of the Saints. Doesn’t this article simply repeat what has already been stated? There is some repetition, to be sure. But this article states the Biblical position of the difference in the righteous and the wicked, which the world (and many religious organizations) are trying to eradicate. This article also emphasizes the fact that with God, there is no middle ground. With men, we see much middle ground or gray area. With God it is all black or white, right or wrong, for him or against him. Joshua made this very clear in Joshua 24:14,15 when he demanded that Israel make a choice to either serve God or not serve God. 'Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put a1way the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. 15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.' Jehu gathered the worshippers of Baal together by declaring his total complete allegiance to this false god. II Kings 10:18 states, 'And Jehu gathered all the people together, and said unto them, Ahab served Baal a little; but Jehu shall serve him much.' Of course, Jehu did not intend to worship Baal, but he did intend to kill those that did. Jehu brought the worshippers into the temple of Baal by declaring his total dedication to this false god. The worshippers of Baal were killed. But Jehu was not totally 'sold out' to God, as he did no better than the worshippers of Baal, and did not completely dedicate himself to God. The result of his half-heartedness toward God is seen in his family and his failure to believe and live by the promises of God. Therefore we understand the purpose of the article is to declare there is no middle ground in the service of God. It is very clear – the worshippers of God will worship him and live like they worship him. The worshippers of this world will worship this world and live like they worship this world. 'WE BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A RADICAL AND ESSENTIAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE RIGHTEOUS AND THE WICKED.' Lyrics to 'The Righteous & The Wicked' by Red Hot Chili Peppers. I can't rest in war / Will you be my friend / Dark ages never change / I can't comprehend /. The Righteous And The Wicked Lyrics: I can't rest in war / Will you be my friend / Dark Ages never change / I can't comprehend / Kiss me we self destruct / Can you. I can't rest in war. Will you be my friend? Dark Ages never change. Well, I can't comprehend. Kiss me, we self destruct. Can you hear me Lord? Yes, I think we're fucked. But I can't rest in war (Righteous and the wicked on the war and peace) The righteous and the wicked, war and peace. The killing fist of the human beast. Just as there is a vast difference between God and man, so it is between that which is right and that which is wrong. There is a vast difference between Satan and God, none will deny. Western Hobbs, a notorious wanted bandit, gets caught up in a violently competitive hunt for stolen cash when he finds out outlaws have robbed the local bank. While trying to get back what's his he. See full summary ». There also will be a vast difference between the righteous and the wicked, as none should deny. Righteousness and wickedness are exact opposites. They should never mix. Isaiah 5:20 – 'Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!' The wicked call evil good and call good evil: because they are wicked, while the righteous call evil, evil because they are faithful to God. The mixture of righteousness and wickedness is a terrible abomination to God. In Nehemiah 13:23-27 Nehemiah was so disgusted with the Israelites who inter-married with Ashdod, Ammon, and Moab (the children were speaking half the language of Israel and half the language of these other nations) that he cursed them, smote some of them, and plucked out their hair! Revelation 3:14-22 – The church at Laodicean was lukewarm, a thing God hates. James 3:1-11 – Verse 10-11 – 'Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. 11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?' A reprobate is one who has been rejected because of his own worthlessness. 1 Corinthians 9:27 – 'But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.' Paul does not mean that he could become lost. He means that his works show whether he is a true believer or not. There is also a castaway concerning fruitfulness to others. II Corinthians 13:5-7 – 'Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? 6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates. 7 Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.' Reprobates are those who are worthless to God and their works prove their reprobation. Romans 6:16 – 'Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?' All these passages have to do with works, which we can see. We cannot see the heart, as Jesus could with Judas Iscariot. God’s Word tells us there is a difference and that God makes a distinction between that which is right and that which is wrong. Israel came to the terrible place of not being able to tell what was right or what was wrong. Malachi 3:18 'Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.' The context of this passage explains that Israel shall one day be able to truly judge those that serve God and those that do not. In the book of Malachi, God continually informs Israel of their sins, and Israel continually declares their innocence of sin. Jeremiah 15:19 – 'Therefore thus saith the LORD, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them.' God desires Israel to return to him, and be able to tell what is good and what is bad – according to God’s word, not according to their own understanding. In Malachi, God reveals that Israel shall return (in the future), but in Jeremiah (which takes place before Malachi), God is still dealing with Israel to return. God’s people should always be able to tell what is right and what is wrong, as Abraham was able. Genesis 18:23 – 'And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?' Abraham knew God did not 'classify' the wicked with the just, and would not judge them the same, nor treat them the same. Just as God makes a difference between the righteous and the wicked, so should we. We cannot tell whether a person is saved or not, but we can tell if their works are what God expects or not. Other scriptures that teach this to be true are: 1. Proverbs 12:26 – 'The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.' The righteous is more excellent (in the eyes of God) than the wicked. The righteous also needs to understand that the way (the manner of living) of the wicked is appealing to the flesh, but destruction to the soul. Acts 10:34-35 – 'Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: 35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.' In every nation, there are those that are righteous before God and there are those that are reprobate. The only way we can tell the difference is through the word of God, whether his word is accepted or excuses made. 'THAT SUCH ONLY AS THROUGH FAITH ARE JUSTIFIED IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS, AND SANCTIFIED BY THE SPIRIT OF OUR GOD, ARE TRULY RIGHTEOUS IN HIS ESTEEM.' Those who are righteous in God’s sight are those who have been set apart and dealt with by the Spirit of God in such a way that they willingly repent of their sins and put their faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior. Romans 1:17, 'The just shall live by faith.' The words, 'just', 'justified', 'right', 'righteous', and 'righteousness' are all translations from the same Greek root word. To be justified the winner must be declared righteous by God (the judge). The article of faith concerning 'justification' should be read at this time for additional help. Those who trust in Jesus Christ and Him alone for that righteousness enjoy the blessing of righteousness. God is righteous and all those who are saved are declared to be righteous and they will act as a righteous person will act. I John 2:29, 'If ye know that He is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth (practices) righteousness is (has been) born of (out of God as a source) Him.' Other scriptures that teach this truth: 1. Romans 1:17 – 'For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.' Romans 7:6 – 'But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.' I John 2:29 – 'If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.' I John 3:7 – 'Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.' Romans 6:18 – 'Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.' Romans 6:22 – 'But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.' I Corinthians 11:32 – 'But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.' Proverbs 11:31 – 'Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.' I Peter 4:17-18 – 'For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?' 'WHILE ALL SUCH AS CONTINUE IN IMPENITENCE AND UNBELIEF ARE IN HIS SIGHT WICKED, AND UNDER THE CURSE; A. 1 John 5:19 – 'And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.' Galatians 3:10 – 'For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.' John 3:36 – 'He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.' Isaiah 57:21 – 'There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.' Psalm 10:4 - 'The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.' Isaiah 55:6-7 – 'Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.' AND THIS DISTINCTION HOLDS AMONG MEN BOTH IN AND AFTER DEATH. Exhortations to be true in this life because we have internal righteousness, granted to us by God. What we do, we do before God, because we have his righteousness, not in order to gain his righteousness. Luke 12:4-5 – 'And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. 5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.' Luke 9:23-26- 'And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. 25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? 26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels.' John 12:25-26 – 'He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. 26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.' Ecclesiastes 3:17 – 'I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.' Proverbs 10:24 – 'The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.' Examples of the righteous and the wicked; both in this life and the life to come. John 8:21-24 – 'Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come. 22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? Because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come. 23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.' Jesus makes it very clear in these verses there is a vast difference between the righteous and the wicked. The wicked are from beneath, Jesus (and all his children) are from above. The two are together on this earth, but they are never mixed together. Gasoline and water will not mix; neither will the righteous and the wicked mix. More examples of the righteous and the wicked; both in this life and the life to come. Proverbs 14:32 – 'The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death. The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.' Luke 16:25 – 'But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.' Matthew 7:13-14 – 'Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye. 14 And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:'. |
